16 - Insulating Your Attic Door

from:

If you are trying to save energy in your home, one of the best ways is to install attic door insulation. By installing attic door insulation, or having it installed, you can help decrease your electric, gas, or oil bills. Many people already turn off the lights when they are not in use, as well as water and other appliances when they are not needed as a form of energy conservation. Installing attic door insulation follows the same concept. The following paragraphs will discuss attic door insulation, as well as why it is important.

By nature, hot air moves itself to find cooler areas. If you do not have attic door insulation installed, you will have excess heat in areas of your home that you do not want. For example, in the summertime your heat will be attracted to the areas of your house that you are trying to cool. During the winter months, the heat from your living area will rise to your attic. The best way to stop this problem is by installing attic insulation, and to remember that all doors and hatches must be protected in order for attic insulation to be totally effective.

The exact amount of energy that attic door insulation will save you depends on several factors. Number one, it depends on the typical climate in the area in which you reside. The type of heating or cooling system you use to control the air temperatures in your house also makes an impact on how much energy you will save with attic door insulation. Finally, the age of your house, and the lifestyle you live also make a difference when considering how much money and energy installing attic door insulation will save you.

Adding attic door insulation is a project most homeowners can do on their own. Whether you have a finished or unfinished attic, installing attic door insulation the proper way is the absolute key to saving energy and money. However, if you do not feel comfortable installing your own attic door insulation, or you are unsure exactly what to do, you can always hire a contractor to do the job. Usually, attic door insulation installation is an affordable expense for any homeowner. The money it will save you by far surpasses the cost of having attic insulation installed.

In addition to saving energy and money, attic door insulation comes with another possible benefit to a homeowner who plans to eventually sell his house. Having attic door installation installed can increase the re-sell value of any home. There is absolutely no downfall to having attic door insulation installed in your home. On the contrary, there are only positive benefits associated with attic insulation, including attic door insulation.
