Many homeowners believe that one of the main disadvantages associated with decorating a finished attic is that attics are typically very small. They often feel that their decorating options are limited with a smaller room However, they often do not realize that there is good news when it comes to decorating a smaller room these days. Decorating your attic a certain way can give your new room a larger appearance than what it really is.
The first tip for decorating your attic is never overcrowd a room that is already small. When you are selecting the furniture for you new attic room, you should choose the smallest furniture that will still satisfy the purpose. You want your attic to be cozy and comfy, but you do not want to overcrowd it. Overcrowding a room that is already small will give it the appearance of being even smaller. Thus, choosing only the furniture you need in order to make your new room stylish and comfortable is the ideal plan of action.
The next factor to take into consideration when decorating your attic room are the color schemes that may work best to give you the effects that you want. Colors can be very important when it comes to making a small room appear larger. Many people used to leave their walls painted all white to give the illusion of a bigger room. That is not necessary today. Many lighter colors will work just as well as white. These colors can include:
light blues
light purples
light greens
Different shades of light yellows, as well as tans and beige can work perfectly, as well. Almost all light colors can make a room appear larger than it really is.
There are other things you can do while decorating to make your attic appear bigger. Adding a few mirrors on the walls is a great way to create the illusion of more space. Keeping the entrance way free of furniture and debris is also a great decorating tip. All in all, if you pay special attention to your furniture and color scheme, you are sure to achieve the goals you have for decorating your attic. Not only that, you are sure to have a good time doing it.
