Energy Efficient Appliances
from:Energy efficiency has become a very important thing in America today. With all the concerns about the environment and with rising costs of living, people are looking for more and more ways to conserve energy and save money. The government has also gotten involved and has started different programs and guidelines regarding energy conservation and increasing efficiency.
The average American household spends roughly $2,000 a year on energy bills. Depending on the age of the house, the heating methods, appliances used, and many other factors, some households can end up spending a lot more than this in a year. However, there is an easy way to decrease your yearly energy costs and save money. By changing the appliances that you use in your house to ones that have been given the Energy Star rating, you can save your family around $75.00 or more a year in energy costs and you will be saving the environment at the same time.
When you are choosing to buy new appliances for your home, there are some things to keep in mind. Energy Star appliances have two separate prices tags on them. The first tag is the price that you pay for the appliance. The other tag shows what you will pay for energy and water that the appliance uses. Appliances that have received the Energy Star rating use different methods that make them use between 10 and 50% less energy and water than regular appliances. When you start saving money on your energy bills every year, you will come to find out that that Energy Star appliances pay for themselves in the long run and are well worth the investment.
There are a variety of appliances that have been made Energy Star compliant. Some of these include refrigerators, washers, dryers, dishwashers, and water heaters. For information on different types of appliances and brands that are qualified, you can do a simple search online or go to the Energy Star website and they have a complete list. They also have a wealth of information that is available to help you make the right decision and find the best products to suit your needs.
Energy Star certification is a voluntary thing. There are no laws that say that companies have to comply. However, most manufacturers are leaning more towards making their appliances comply with the Energy Star specifications due to the fact that they help save the environment. There are ever increasing concerns for the environment and more and more ways are coming about to protect it. Energy Star appliances have become much more affordable since they were first introduced. It is becoming easier for everyday people to be able to afford these appliances and to start saving money on their home energy bills. The government has also started a program where there are tax rebates available for purchases of energy saving products and improvements.
