There are a variety of ways to reduce your electric usage in your home and help you reduce your energy bills. If you are looking into creating a small renewable energy system to create your own electricity, you can use energy more efficiently and save money by decreasing the electricity loads that you are using.

First of all, to help with energy efficiency, you need to look at where and how much electricity you are using in certain areas of your home. By doing this, you will quickly learn how to use your energy more efficiently and save yourself money. You will also get a good idea of what is costing you the most and how you can change the usage of these areas.

First of all, you need to check your appliances and electronics that you are using in your home. Keep in mind that if you live in an average U.S. home, appliances and electronics will account for approximately 20% of your monthly energy bills. Some of the appliances and electronics that play a part in this cost are washers and dryers, dishwashers, computers, refrigerators and freezers, home audio equipment, televisions, DVD players, VCRs, room air conditioners, and water heaters. There are many energy efficient appliances and electronics on the market today. You may want to consider purchasing these to conserve your energy use. You should also look at how you are using your appliances and electronics and find ways to conserve energy with them. For instance, turn off or set your computers sleep mode when you are not going to use it for awhile. This will save a lot of energy. You should also keep your appliances clean. This makes it so they do not have to work as hard to produce energy. Use the lowest settings possible so that you can save energy. Turn off appliances and electronics when they are not needed.

You should also consider purchasing energy-efficient light bulbs and lighting products. Make sure that you turn off lights when you are not using them. This can greatly increase energy efficiency and save you money. Another idea is to utilize sunlight as much as possible for both lighting your home and heating it. This can save you a lot of money on energy costs because you are using less electricity to light and heat your home.

You can also purchase a water heater that is energy efficient. You should set the water heater to 120 degrees to make it run most efficiently. Another option is to purchase a water heater that is energy efficient and does not require electricity to run.

By implementing these techniques you can help conserve energy and make your energy use more efficient. This can save you a lot of money. It will also help you to do your part to save the environment.
