Increasing Energy Efficiency in Water Heating

from:

Approximately 14-25% of energy that is used in your home is due to water heating. It is easy to reduce the amount of energy that you are using and decrease your monthly water heating bills if you choose the best water heater for your home or your pool and if you implement some energy efficient water heating strategies.

One of the easiest things that you can do to increase energy efficiency with your water heating is to purchase a new water heater. This is costly at first, but is well worth the price when you see the savings on your monthly energy bills. The unit will pay for itself in a reasonable amount of time. When you are choosing a new water heater, it is important to choose a system that will provide enough hot water for your use, but that will also provide that water while being energy efficient. You need to look at the different types of water heaters that are available and also determine the right size and the fuel source for your home. You should look into the different water heaters that are available to determine the best one for you. The types of water heaters include conventional storage water heaters which have a storage tank readily available with hot water. There are also demand water heaters. These heat the water directly and do not use a storage tank. Heat pump water heaters transfer heat from one place to another instead of creating heat directly to provide hot water. Solar water heaters rely on the power of the sun’s heat to produce hot water. Then, there are tank less coil and indirect water heaters. These systems use the space heating system in a home to heat water.

When you are deciding on what type of water heater to get, you need to consider several other factors. You need to look at the available fuel type and the cost. You also need to carefully consider the size. Also look at the energy efficiency ratings of the water heater that you are considering. Finally, look at the cost of the water heater itself and get a rough estimate of the annual operating costs. You should compare these costs to other models to determine which one would be most efficient and save you the most.

If you have a swimming pool and are looking at more efficient ways to heat it, the first thing you should consider is a solar heater. This does not require energy and can save you a lot of money. There are also energy efficient pool heaters available. You can search the internet, check with your local energy company, or contact a pool specialist. They can give you the details on your options and the costs involved with each of them.
