2. Incredible Landscape Lighting Ideas

from:

Gone are the days when landscape lighting referred to the connection of few fixtures along the front path sprinkled with few decorative lights hanging from the trees. The concept of landscape lighting has taken an artistic turn and it has become one of the most creative art form. Landscape lighting is a great way to showcase the beauty of your house and lawns after the sun sets. Creatively arranged lighting arrangements can be used to produce dramatic effects without going overboard. For example the driveway to your house should be aesthetically lit but should not appear like an airport runway.

Landscape lighting should be planned in such a manner so that it satisfies both the aspects of functionality as well as beauty. Here are some of the ideas that will help you in planning on how to light up your landscape:

Before setting out on a purchase for fixtures and other accessories for landscape lighting it is advisable to prepare a rough plan by visiting your yard with a flashlight in night. This will help you in ascertaining the actual impact that lights will have when placed in your landscape

Remember that the most important aspect of landscape lighting should be utility. Therefore plan your lighting arrangement in such a manner that will provide you with maximum security. Place proper lighting around stairs and pathways that will help in preventing accidents in the dark. If you enjoy outdoor barbeques then place a light that can focus on your barbeque unit.

You should then place lights for creating some dramatic effects but a word of caution - don’t do things in extreme. A subtle effect leaves a greater impact. So light up an arbor or your house façade or splash lights on just a side of your house for getting that amazing look. If you are a proud owner of a pool or a landscaped pond then illuminate the water using submersible lights.

Low voltage lights play an important role in landscape lighting as they bring out the shape of the object. There are number of designer fixtures available in the market for these lights which create a wonderful atmosphere.

Next important aspect of landscape lighting is the procurement of suitable fixtures that best suits a particular location. For example well lights buried in the ground will do full justice to lighting up of a bush but if you want to put the focus on a particular aspect say an artifact in the garden you should use a spot light. There are other kinds of lightings like tier light used for generic purposes and down lights or edge fixtures for lighting up the pathways.

Plan your landscape lighting well and make your house appear like a beautifully lit painting at night.
