16. A Quick History Lesson On Jacuzzi Hot Tubs

from:

Most people today enjoy Jacuzzi hot tubs due to the amount of relaxation and several advantages they offer. But really few people know the actual story and history of Jacuzzi and hot tubs or the connection between them. This is not surprising as for many years people have been using the name of the inventor in order to characterize and describe the activity and the product itself. Many people in the US think that a Jacuzzi is a spa method, while in the UK, most people know them as hot tubs. The truth is that the two terms are synonymous and hide a very interesting story behind them.

Towards the end of 1960s, Roy Jacuzzi was experimenting on a water jet system which had the ability to create bubbles. It was the famous Venturi system that he had invented a few years ago. He managed to create something that looks like the hot tub we use today, therefore his name was used so as to describe and characterize this particular type of water jet tub. The Venturi system was incorporated and used in the hot tubs produced. Since then the sales of the particular product skyrocketed, although the hot tubs that were created in the 60s were the first models. Today we have numerous new additions and technological developments that made the hot tubs more practical and functional. In any case, Jacuzzi was the one who created the pleasing bubbles that we see when using the hot tub. The Venturi system is what causes and creates the bubbles, forcing air into the water flow. Most of the hot tubs today use a specific control system which allows the user to control the intensity of bubbles and pressure.

According to historical facts the Jacuzzi family had already invented this system back in the beginning of the 20th century, so as to give relief to several medical conditions that tormented members of the family – it is believed that the first pump was created in order to deal with arthritis. Roy Jacuzzi was the one who decided to promote and market the particular hydrotherapy medium, enhancing it with the water jet system. The first marketing attempts were not that successful due to the ignorance of people, but towards the end of 70s the Jacuzzi patent hit the market, a little more developed and elaborated. That was a big success for the family who managed to expand the sales in the international market. Most of the hot tubs manufacturers today use the same Venturi system that Jacuzzi created a few decades ago.

Thanks to a few health issues and the determination of the family, numerous people enjoy the relaxing and therapeutic effects of the Jacuzzi hot tubs today.
